My name is Mambwe Malama, 27, a Zambian, a Systems IT graduate from Damelin. Zambia has only 1 oil refinery Indeni, 24,000 barrels a day refinery serviced by a 1703 km long oil pipeline. I wonder why Zambia continues to import oil from unstable regions in the Middle East instead of accessing the oil from nearby Angola . Angolan crude is sold on the world market at a substantial premium due to its low sulphur content and high yield of lighter products. I have a dream; to construct a 500,000 –barrels-a-day crude oil refinery in Zambia. It’s poised to play a significant role in the development of Zambia as far as rural development (including economic empowerment), energy security and Reduction in fuel shortages will be a thing of the past. At present, the rates of return to the investment in the oil Refinery Industry has improved the average margin per barrel and has reached a level which is enough to cover the Capital cost First we must approach the Government of Zambia with a structured and mutually beneficial proposal; Recapitalisation of Indeni for it to start functioning efficiently and for approval to Construct an Oil Refinery in Zambia, a Pipeline from an Angolan Oil field and Filling stations, areas of the market where no other competitors have yet gained a foothold. And also Uganda has oil on lake albert. Can someone help me approach the government of Zambia and convince them sell shares in contract haulage, mukuba hotel, ndola lime, kariba minerals, nitrogen chemicals of zambia, mulobezi railways, zambianational national building society and zampost.
